Our Sangha
The San Francisco LGBTQIA+ Sangha Welcomes You!
Monday Nights 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m. Location:** The SF Buddhist Center, 37 Bartlett Street, SF, CA 94110 We invite you to our weekly meditation sitting group at the SF Buddhist Center, 37 Bartlett Street in San Francisco**. Our group meets from 5:30 to 6:30pm each Monday, except holidays. This sangha was founded by Larry Yang and Ryūmon in July 2002, and today the dharma talks are carried on by our core teachers Syra Smith and Steven Tierney and many fabulous guest teachers. We explore mindfulness, meditation, and spiritual practice in our day to day lives and focus on cultivating an open awareness spacious enough to include whatever arises moment to moment. It is a wonderful way to bring closure to your activities of the day. **Note that we are meeting online using Zoom every Monday. Please visit our Join Online page to learn how to join the Monday sit. We have also started meeting in person every second Monday at the SF Buddhist Center in San Francisco. Format:
There is no cost to participate, and the group sustains itself through voluntary work and donations which in the Buddhist tradition is called the practice of "dana" (generosity). Your dana contributions go to pay for our weekly room rent and as offerings to our teachers who graciously offer the teachings without charge. It is a drop-in group, so please join us in supporting and deepening our collective mindfulness practice. For more information, please email [email protected]. To subscribe to our mailing list, please use the sign up form at the bottom of this website. This sangha is peer led and organized. We always welcome new people to be members of the community. If you are new to meditation, you are welcomed to approach one of us for guidance and instructions to begin a meditation practice. Many Blessings, The San Francisco LGBTQIA+ Sangha |
